How to Make Your Drawings Move on iPad, Android or PC (No AI)
You can make a drawing move on an iPad, an Android phone or tablet, or a Windows PC, without typing a prompt into an AI tool: open Doodraw, draw with any animated brush, and the line starts moving the instant you lift your pen or finger. The app, the brushes and the export options are the same on every platform; what changes is how you install it and a couple of setting names. Here is the quick version for each device, and what “no AI” actually means for how the result looks.
Why “no AI” matters here
A lot of searches for “make drawings move” or “make pictures move” lead to AI tools that take a still image and generate new frames, or a whole new video, from a text prompt. That works, but the output is not quite your drawing anymore: the AI is filling in motion it invents, and often reinterprets edges, colors or details along the way.
Doodraw works differently. Nothing is generated. Every line on the canvas is a line you drew, and the animation engine gives that exact line a small, continuous wobble as you draw it, the same hand-drawn “boiling line” effect used in traditional animation (we cover the technique and its history in boiling lines animation). If what you want is your drawing moving, not a new picture that resembles it, this is the more direct route, and it works the same instant on a phone, a tablet or a PC.
iPad and iPhone
- Install Doodraw from the App Store (iOS/iPadOS 16.4 or later).
- Open a canvas and pick a brush. Every brush animates: Crayon and Chalk give a classic boil, Wobbly Pen gives the whole stroke a tremor.
- Draw with your finger or Apple Pencil. If palm touches leave marks while you use the Pencil, turn on Apple Pencil only in Settings.
- Tap the export icon, choose Animated PNG, GIF or MP4, set the Duration (1 to 15 seconds) and the Transparent background toggle, then export.
Our step-by-step animation tutorial and our guide to turning a drawing into a GIF cover this in more depth, including saving the file to Photos.
Android
- Install Doodraw from Google Play.
- The brushes, layers, eraser and lasso are identical to iPhone and iPad.
- If you draw with a stylus and want to ignore finger touches, the equivalent setting is called Stylus only (the iOS version is named Apple Pencil only, same function).
- Export the same way: GIF, Animated PNG or MP4, with the Transparent background toggle free on both formats. On Android, switch the export panel to Gallery and tap Save to gallery; files land in
Pictures/Doodraw(images) orMovies/Doodraw(video).
Windows (PC)
Doodraw also has a real desktop app, not a mobile port running in an emulator window.
- Download the installer from doodraw.com/download/windows. The link always points at the current version, and the app updates itself after that.
- Run the installer and open Doodraw.
- Draw with a mouse, a trackpad, or any pen tablet Windows already recognizes as a pointer, such as a Wacom or Huion display or tablet.
- The brush engine, layers and export panel work exactly like the mobile apps: pick a brush, draw, and export as GIF, Animated PNG or MP4.
Drawing, animating and exporting are free on Windows too, with the same small watermark on free exports as mobile. Since there is no Windows store purchase flow yet, Doodraw Pro on the desktop app is bought directly through a Paddle checkout inside the app. Full details, including what to do if you switch computers, are in our Doodraw for PC guide.

FAQ
How do I make a drawing move without AI?
Draw it in Doodraw. Every brush stroke animates the moment you draw it, with Speed and Jiggle sliders controlling the motion. Nothing is generated: the lines are the ones you drew, and the movement comes from the app’s rendering engine, not from a prompt.
Can I make my drawings move on Android?
Yes. Doodraw is on Google Play, with the same animated brushes, layers and export as iPhone, iPad and Windows. The main difference from iPhone is naming: the setting that ignores finger touches is called Stylus only on Android, Apple Pencil only on iOS.
Can I make my drawings move on a Windows PC?
Yes. Doodraw has a Windows desktop app, downloaded from doodraw.com/download/windows/, that draws and animates with a mouse, trackpad or any pen tablet Windows recognizes, like a Wacom or Huion. It shares the same engine as the mobile apps.
What is the difference between an AI drawing animator and Doodraw?
An AI tool generates new frames or a new image based on your drawing and a prompt, so the result is not entirely what you drew. Doodraw does not generate anything: every line stays exactly as you drew it, and the animation engine adds motion to that same line in real time.
Is it free to animate a drawing in Doodraw?
Yes, on every platform. Drawing, animating and exporting GIF, Animated PNG and MP4 are all free, with a small watermark on free exports. Doodraw Pro removes the watermark and adds a frame-by-frame assistant, per-layer animation controls and 10 extra brushes.
